After picking up the guitar at age 13 and playing in a variety of performing bands throughout high school, Brett began his formal music education as a Guitar Performance Major at the Berklee College of Music from 1991-1992. He then ventured off to New York City where he began his professional music journey. Over the next eight years, he honed his musical chops performing and recording as a guitar player in virtually every genre. During his military service from 2005-2014, Brett continued playing guitar, but only as a hobby. It wasn’t until the end of his service that the passion to once again make music a part of his professional life began to burn hotter than ever.
Brett has played with the likes of Larry Mitchell, Matt Garrison, Danny Sadownick, Brad Houser, and Matt Henderson. His guitar influences run the gamut from Jimi Hendrix, SRV and Scott Henderson, to Steve Morse and Guthrie Govan. He is currently playing a Kenai T2 while waiting for his second Knaggs, a Severn model.
